Bali! Ah, the word itself sounds so tempting! Right from the luxurious traveler to the hardcore backpacker, everyone dreams of visiting this heavenly country. Likewise, I always dreamt of visiting Bali , one day, someday. Fortunately for me, I married a travel blogger and I was gifted a Honeymoon to Bali by @Srinistuff.
The movie that ensured that I would visit Bali, one day!
Since our trip was planned just the second day of our wedding, post wedding functions continued and we literally had to rush to our airport. To such an extent that my partner had me whisked away from the customs. Finally we boarded our Malaysian Airlines flight and were on our way to Bali. Our first stop was going to be Seminyak.
To be honest, my first impression gave me a sense of deja vu. To me it appeared that Bali was a combination of several places, I had visited in India. Seminyak for me, resembled Goa, closer to home. Beaches, sun, sand, party clubs, booze, trendy nightlife and chic restaurants.
We landed at Denpasar International aiport, Denpasar being the capital of Bali. After an 3–40 minutes cab drive from the airport (Taxis and cabs are easily available at the airport and you definitely have the chance to bargain, before you hop into one!), we reached Fave Hotel (http://www.favehotels.com/home/eng) in Seminyak.
Opposite the hotel, there’s an Indian restaurant where our meals were sorted! Unfortunately, we could not eat Balinese specialties as a long week of wedding ceremonies left us both tired and sick. Having said that, our illness did not stop us seeing from the varied sights- temples on the main roads, shops, booze 😉 and celebrating the new years eve on a beach in the rains!
What made the trip special was off course, a new years eve on a foreign land, first ever in our life time! 🙂
